Joey V has been playing drums off and on since he was 13 years old in the bland suburbs of Denver, Colorado. At the age of 16 he joined his first band, The Puritans, with seven of his schoolmates. In 1992 he joined forces with guitarist Jeff Bell and Mike Robinson and formed the core of now defunct Even Furthur, a free-spirited, Merry Pranksters-inspired folk rock group that exploded on the Denver coffeehouse scene. An unfortunate bagel-slicing incident in 1995 brought his tenure with Even Furthur to a premature end. After a year of rehab Joey V joined up with Denver powerpop powerhouse Pocket. Sadly, artistic differences forced the band to disband before their much-hyped debut.
In June of 1997, Joey V relocated to Austin, leaving his career as a drummer behind. It was almost six years later, in 2003, when his pal Xander approached him about an exciting musical opportunity. Joey V was asked to jam with an early incarnation of The Evildoers. After a few explosive practices, he shook out the cobwebs and began to change the history of rock music as it is known today. |
