Amber Marie Weeks was born in Pasadena Texas, and grew up in the
DFW Metroplex area. Her interest in music began at a
young age, as she was weened on such classic bands as
Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Dio, Judas Priest, and Journey.
Being a rock'n'roll kid later helped to broaden her
interests to various styles of music. Her musical
abilities were honed in elementary, jr. high, and high school choir,
where she learned to harmonize. Until recently, though, her
lead vocal capabilities had not taken center stage.
In early 2006, she joined the Austin-by-way-of-Berlin band
Foolhardy, and has played several shows in the Austin
area, showcasing the band's unique harmonies and
Amber's occasional lead vocals.
Auditions for a female vocalist began in July 2006,
and Amber was chosen as the newest member of The
Evildoers. Her first show with the band was at The
Carousel Lounge on August 19th, 2006. Adding backing
and harmony vocals, she also provides lead vocals on
two songs, one of which (Indiscretion) she co-wrote.
Her influences include bands such as Cocteau Twins, Spinning Ginny, The Pixies, Air, Slowdive, The Flaming Lips, Stevie Wonder and too many others to list. Shoe gaze and Indie dominate her CD player. |
